The base of the necklace is a vintage velvet ribbon. The buttons and charms and other components that encrusted the base took a lifetime to collect.
The vintage carved tahiti shell buttons were a gift from a friend; the abalone buttons I made myself in high school; the turquoise buttons were bought at the palace of the governor's in Santa Fe.
Other treasures include shell discs, fresh water pearls, jade buttons, vintage and new glass beads.
The stitched bracelet is the "Button Brigade" pattern with carved floral pua shell buttons.
The bottom bracelet is made from abalone and sterling beads. |
