This inspiration for this vest were the wonderful colors in the fabric, that reminded me of the stormy days and nights spent at our cabin at Chandos Lake in Ontario.
The vivid blues and grays of the water and sky are represented in the ribbon worked flowers and silk ribbon embroidery. The vintage tahiti shell buttons and bits of abalone pick up the colors of nature's fury as well.
The ribbon flowers are made from Hanah silk bias ribbon, satin ribbon, and vintage grosgrain ribbon. The strips of lace are made from filet crochet, tatted and machine lace. Additional ribbons and trims adorn the vest with vintage buttons, beads and charms. Bead embellishments encrust the ribbon work flowers and other areas. The necklace is called Summers by the Sea. |
