The inspiration for this piece was both the vintage chain stitched embroidered section from Saudi Arabia and the vintage buttons that were a gift from a friend. The original pattern was a vest, and I added the short sleeve and kimono collar to create the jacket.
The flowers and leaves on the jacket are made from both fabric and ribbon; the ribbons are satin, vintage silk velvet (from Lacis), and Hanah silk bias; the buttons are all vintage celluloid and Bakelite. The traditional embroidery is stitched with silk ribbon and metallic threads.
The necklace is an adaptation of my pattern "Entwined Roses", Antique Autumn Roses. The necklace's focal point is a metallic passementerie piece and vintage buttons given to me by a friend. It is embellished with ribbonworked flowers and leaves surrounded by peyote stitched vintage and new glass beads sewn to and around silk and satin cords.
The hat (not shown) is a pillbox hat made from the same fabrics. The wand Polgara's Mask is made from a tree root, shaped in a figure eight to form the mask; the piece is embellished with a vintage pheasant feathers, ribbonworked flowers and leaves; vintage millinery pieces.
