Florabella, a woodland sprite, is made from a larger version of my Second Hand Rose pattern. She stands 18" tall, but is usually sitting on her wooden mushroom ready for whatever may come her way.
Her body and clothing are made from a wonderful assortment of cotton prints, hand dyed batik fabrics. She is embellished with an antique lace bodice and sleeves. She wears a cape of an embroidered cotton fabric, trimmed with a cotton paisley print and velvet leaves. At her waist is a velvet ribbon and a vintage pin from my Grandmother's collection; and satin ribbons at her sleeves and ankles. Her skirt is trimmed in vintage lace and satin ribbon which is embellished with leaves and flowers.
Her face is hand painted with tattooed vines and berries, and pen detailing. She wears leaves and feathers in her hair which is an exotic mix of novelty and metallic yarns. Her shoes are a dainty pair of velvet ballet slippers. Her body and clothing are also adorned with buttons; wooden leaves; and wonderful jewels from Grandmother's collection rest at her face.
She sits in my studio with in anticipation, and enjoys the company of her companions.
