Basket full of Magic

Cloth Art Doll made by Christen Brown

For many years I was fortunate enough to belong to a doll club called the Imitation of Life Construction Company. We had many talented members in our group, Barbara Chapman being one of them. I mention Barbara because I had taken a class from her years before, and learned how to apply the paint to create the dolls face, and personality, and this doll reminds me of her.

One meeting we had a fabric/goodie swap between the members, and the challenge was to make a doll with the goodies. Many of the components came from goodies that Barbara was sharing, including the cool earrings and red lace.

The doll is made from an Eleanor Piece Bailey pattern. The tassels that I created to hang from her basket, were also inspired by Barbara as this is also a technique she teaches. Her face is hand- painted with permanent pen detailing. The basket stands 13" tall.
