These two vests are examples of what you can do with a little bit of time, a few strips of fabric, ribbons, pearl cotton and a safety pin.
The pattern of the vest is warped with strands of pearl cotton or embroidery floss. Strips of fabric are cut and the raw edges ironed under; ribbons and various yarns are gathered for extra touches.
The fabric strips are woven through the warp with a safety pin attached to the raw edge. The novelty trims and yarns were woven in with a bodkin.
This is a great way to utilize bits and pieces, it is fun, and fast (once all of the strips of fabric have been cut and ironed of course!).
